Beau-ti-ful!
I’ve been wanting to get De Atramentis Aubergine or so long and was finally able to secure a sample. Woo-hoo! I can offer my thoughts based on the swab I was able to do: unfortuna...view moretely, there was an oopsie, and I was able to collect only enough ink to do a swab and saturate my Sailor 1911L 21 kt H-B using it as a dip pen. There is a coppery-green sheen on the swab and on some letters written with my H-B nib. The colour is a rich purple, similar to Diamine 150th Anniversary Purple Dream. It’s also similar to, yet considerably more saturated than, Kaweco Summer Purple and J. Herbin Poussière de Lune and Diamine Grape (which is extremely unsaturated compared to Aubergine). Diamine Majestic Purple is bluer and Diamine Imperial Purple is redder. Even if the ink is saturated, it maintained its purple colour in my wet H-B nib (used as a dip pen). I see myself buying a bottle; perhaps the one in the Giacomo Puccini bottle. It costs more and there are less millilitres per bottle than the standard Aubergine, but the label is nicer. The heart wants what it wants… In addition to Puccini, Aubergine is also repackaged as Alexander Hamilton, Louise Aston, Paris (City), Titus and a few more.

One of the best purples availables
Perfect name. Dark Purple, good flow, very consistent and office appropriate. There are a lot of purple inks availables, this is one you should definitely have, not only sample.
