The newest addition to Esterbrook's Core collection, the Scarlet pays tribute to the Golden Age of Hollywood and the romantic leading ladies of the silver screen.
Scarlett O’Hara: Great balls of fire. Don’t bother me anymore, and don’t call me sugar.
Love. Is there anything more complicated? The answer is an emphatic no. In life, poetry, and fiction the subject has been explored ad nauseam, but perhaps there is no place it’s been more analyzed than film.
Leading ladies, in particular, are fascinating creatures when it comes to the ways of ardor. There are legends who need only one name: Garbo, Bacall, Marilyn, and Judy. Then there are the modern single name stars: Meg, Julia, Reese, Kate and Meryl, just to name a few who fill our screens with the comedy, peril, and the ecstasy of true love.
Whether it’s Andi in Pretty in Pink, Vivian in Pretty Woman, Celine in Before Sunrise, Buttercup in The Princess Bride, or the most famous of all, Scarlett O’Hara in Gone With the Wind, the sirens and (s)heroes of cinema romance are fierce, funny, and flawed in ways that are both fascinating and all too familiar.
They have inspired wedding vows, wedding songs, breakup songs and endless journal entries, where we quote their stories to help us tell our own.
The newest Estie in the core line-up, is a tribute to all of these starlets. She’s red to symbolize love, passion, courage and action. She’s elegant, graceful, feisty and a little bit fancy. And while Rhett Butler may not give a damn for her, she’s dear to us. She’s a new love for everyone, but she reminds us of the most singular one: Scarlett.
It is available as a standard or Oversize Estie fountain with a #6 Jowo Steel nib available in Fine, Medium, Broad and 1.1mm. Journaler Nib: The Esterbrook Custom Nib Program is our way to highlight exceptional American nibmeisters and we've asked some of the most prominent and exceptional nibmeisters in our community to create nibs to be a part of Esterbrook's storied legacy. Gena Salorino of the Custom Nib Studio in Los Angeles has created the first edition. An apprentice to nibmeister John Mottishaw of Nibs.com for nearly four years, Gena's nib work is derived from his style, but as she's established Custom Nib Studio, her signature nibs have become well-known in the marketplace for her own trademark style and beautiful handmade quality.
In her own words, the custom nib Gena is grinding for Esterbrook is a "medium stub grind, based on the vintage Esterbroook 9314M nib. The idea is that it's smooth and friendly enough for everyday use, gives your writing some flair, all without being too huge for practical writing". Available for the Standard and Oversized Estie's as well as the new Camden, Gena's custom nib has an MSRP of $50. This nib will replace your standard nib. Meaning, your pen will come with just this nib and not as a second nib unit.
Scribe Nib: The Scribe Nib is a modified Architect nib that is smoother and more user friendly to those who do not need the sharpness of the true Architect nib. Esterbrook developed this nib with Josh Lax over a period of months so it is fun and exciting and adds another unique nib/writing experience to the line up. Available for the Standard and Oversized Estie's, Josh's custom nib has an MSRP of $60. This nib will replace your standard nib. Meaning, your pen will come with just this nib and not as a second nib unit.
