Custom brown fountain pen ink made for the Nagasawa Pen Store in Japan.
A lot of foreign traders lived in Shioya. Therefore, this area has many old villas. Even now, these villas use vintage furniture from those days. This sepia ink color is inspired by the stylish old furniture.

Sepia? Hmm...
Kobe #52 Shioya Vintage Sepia is not sepia-colored to me, unlike R&K Sepia or Kobe #40 and #3, but my conception of the term sepia could be wrong. Wikipedia defines it as a "reddis...view moreh-brown color, named after the rich brown pigment derived from the ink sac of the common cuttlefish.” In my mind, sepia is more of a brown-black-grey color. Regardless, I find it’s a well behaved ink, very readable in light values, presenting some sheen in heavy application and a black outline in writing on white TR 52 gsm. I like this ink better on white paper, the cream/ivory one interfering with the color, making almost caramel. To my eye, Kobe #52 is similar to Diamine Music Bach and Chocolate Brown, and Kobe #40 Nada Brown, which is more orangish. Even if #52 and #40 are similar, they are not identical, and if you like the one, you might like to try the other. view less
