I bought the Platinum Preppy 03 Blue-Black to get a feel for the nib and test out the ink. If I leave the pen on a flat surface, the pen does start right away, but after a few words, the pen skips and the stops. This is where the agitator come in: shake the Preppy a few times if it was kept on a desk, and the pen should not skip or stop when you put it to paper. This is my first Preppy so I don’t know if this is the nature of the pen or if I have a bad one. I would think it’s normal behaviour, hence the agitator. This will not deter me from buying more. The Blue-Black supplied with the pen is a bit bluer than Iroshizuku Shin-Kai; I would actually call it Navy Blue. In heavily soaked areas, the outline has pretty red sheen.
