Colorverse Einstein Ring from Season 1 Spaceward is a bright magenta purple ink with low shading. It dries in 30 seconds in a medium nib on Rhodia and has an average flow. Colorverse ink is made in Korea.
An Einstein ring is created when light from a galaxy or star passes by a massive object en route to the Earth. Due to gravitational lensing (a distribution of matter between a distant light source and an observer), the light is diverted, making it seem to come from different places. If source, lens, and observer are all in perfect alignment, the light appears as a ring.
Einstein first made predictions about the phenomena in 1912 but did not publish an article on it until 1936. In 1924, Russian physicist Orest Khvolson published an article on gravitational lensing, however he did not elaborate on the flux or radius of the ring so it is named after Einstein who quantified Khvoloson's work with his 1936 publication.
