Van Dieman's The Wilderness Series- Black-Tongue Spider Orchid

Van Dieman’s Black-Tongue Spider Orchid from the Wilderness series is an unsaturated magenta purple ink with low shading. It dries in 50 seconds in a medium nib on Rhodia and has an average flow. Van Dieman’s ink is made in Australia.

Van Diemans Wilderness Series has been reformulated. Van Dieman's is a proud Australian company that has made a concerted effort to improved their inks formula's and sourcing. Van Diemans inks will consist of at least 90 percent Australian ingredients which will allow them to proudly state and be labeled as made in Australia.

The Night series was the first to use the reformulations.  We will have new swatches up as soon as they are available.

This color was inspired by the exotic and enticing Black tongue spider orchid (Caladenia caudata). Tasmania’s orchids are some of the most beautiful in the world this species is found only in Tasmania. The Black Tongue Spider Orchid, with a gorgeous shade from black to deep magenta, is under conservation and listed as vulnerable due to agricultural expansion and disturbance in burning in certain regions.

Van Dieman's Wilderness Series is ten fountain pen inks inspired by the majestic, beautiful and ofttimes humbling wonders that await in the Tasmanian wilds. As an extension of our original Van Dieman's Colors Tasmania, and as a series unto itself, we created the Wilderness Series to encapsulate the natural colors of this awe-inspiring and untouched southern land.
