We love sheeny inks. We don't try to hide it and we definitely don't deny it. And based off of the feedback we get from customers, you guys like them, too.

Krishna is a brand that has quickly become well known for their vast color line-up and especially for inks that sheen. They offer several saturated colors that pack a sheeny punch on the paper. The most popular of these inks is probably Jungle Volcano.

Recently, Krishna informed us that they have had to make some adjustments to the formula of Jungle Volcano. Due to catastrophic weather conditions and severe flooding in India, it was difficult for them to source the ingredients needed year round to meet the demand for the ink. As such, they have reformulated the ink and are now making Jungle Volcano 2. Krishna admits that the color of the new formula is slightly different, but they have also worked to improve the dry time.

What about the sheen? It's still there! The new base color is brighter and more red which offers a nice contrast to the vibrant green sheen.

Here are side-by-side swatches on col-o-ring paper:

Here's another look at it, this time on Rhodia paper using a dip pen:

As you can see, it's a little different but they were able to keep that fantastic sheen around. Sadly, original Jungle Volcano is out of production and no longer available, but we are glad that they could find an alternative source of materials and create Jungle Volcano 2! Try it out for yourself and let us know what you think!
